Looking after your Transmission

In a machine, the number of moving parts it has will affect the effenciency and the rate it wears out.

The greater the number of moving parts there are in a machine means there are a greater amount of friction in between those parts as they come into contact, which in turn results in a greater loss of energy in the form of heat generated by the friction.

This is important to know because a car’s transmission involves many moving parts (the gears), which come in contact with each other.

These gears are lubricated in Transmission Oil or Fluids, thereby reducing the wear.

Over time, these oils can become contaminated by abrasive worn out metallic debris that come off the parts, water, or other substances.

If you don’t look after your Transmission, certain problems may arise in the future, such as:

  • Gears Slipping
  • Grinding, Ticking or Whining Noises
  • Gears Not Engaging
  • Engine Light On
  • Shaking/Shuddering when Changing Gears
